Merits of Tourism according to Heritage INC

In the opinion of James J. Spillane (1982: 20) tourism is an activity to travel in order to get pleasure, find satisfaction, knowing something, improve health, enjoy sports or a rest, to fulfill the task, pilgrimages and others.

Tourism can provide much-needed employment for people. It provides jobs. Hotels, bars, transport, activities, shops, and restaurants all need staffing.

When you visit another culture, you have the opportunity to be exposed to unfamiliar traditions and perspectives and to gain a broader, more informed, and kinder view of both the people and places you meet and of humanity and the world as a whole. Preconceptions and stereotypes might be replaced by complexity, empathy, and first-hand knowledge.
